Watch policy:  We will give a % of authenticity based on the external components.  If you would like a 100% authenticity, the watch must be opened with the proper tools and photos taken of the internal mechanism. We recommend taking the watch to a jeweler to have the back opened, to ensure the highest degree of accuracy.

Authenticate First started out as a labor of love. We are a collaborated group of people tired of seeing buyers ripped off and target sites such as eBay to get their fakes removed. We are behind the scenes protecting consumers who do not even know we exist. In the meantime, we realize this is a valuable service and would like to help consumers with pre-purchase authentications, as well as offer post-purchase authentications if you suspect you bought a fake, or just need peace of mind. All of our associates are 100% against fakes because of their ties to child labor, terrorism, human trafficking, drugs, murder and many more violent crimes. Not to mention they are highly illegal. We strive to offer you the very best service and will continue to be there for you should you need to file a claim.

Authenticate First authenticators have bought, sold and studied brands like Louis Vuitton for many years. We have authenticators worldwide who can help you, regardless of what country you are in. We are here to protect you from being ripped off by con artists who want nothing more than to steal your money and leave you holding a fake. We have seen firsthand thousands of auctions and websites charging hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars for a fake. Although efforts have been made by sites such as eBay for post-auction problems, it is still a stressful time for you if you buy a fake. Some sites offer no help and leave you hanging, not to mention your money is tied up until it is all settled. Authenticate First can also help you with verification paperwork should you need to file a claim with your credit card company or a website. If at all possible, always Authenticate First before you buy. Please see our Pre-Sale Evaluation to alleviate the stress before a purchase.

We often hear that people took a bag into a boutique for authentication. We would like to address this issue and share our experience and education.

First let’s acknowledge that boutique staff are told expressly NOT to authenticate bags, though unfortunately some will, and here is why - they are not trained to do so, and they do not want the liability that goes with making a wrong call on a bag. Also, they do not like resellers. We have seen many a SA say an authentic bag was not real without even looking at it closely, because the person who brought it in said they bought on ebay or craigslist. We have also seen SA's call a clearly fake bag authentic because the person bringing it in is a good customer and the SA assumes (incorrectly) that because the person buys a lot of designer items, they must know their stuff and wouldn't carry a fake or buy pre-loved, and they don't know themselves. They may know the current season’s bags, but not earlier/retired bags. For example: Louis Vuitton has been in business since 1854, so there are hundreds, if not thousands of Louis Vuitton bags and styles. A SA or even manager is not trained in the history, styles and types or even construction of their bags. Unless they take a personal interest, they have no clue about authentication. A professional authenticator has studied, looked at, collected, bought, and sold more brand names than most SA's see in their lifetime. SA's sell the bags, and may be familiar with current or recent past styles, but they do not know the intricacies of those bags. They do not know exactly how many stitches per inch a bag should have, the variety of factories that any one style is made in, the variations in date code fonts from year to year or even location to location.

So remember this when you take a bag into a boutique. Our authenticators are experts, not sales staff. You should always Authenticate First before you buy or sell.

Our mission is to provide personal authentication services and to help answer authenticity questions for handbags, wallets, and other accessories.  We strive for the best customer service and offer our clients the most skilled authenticators in the business.
